Greek National Road 37

Greek National Road 37 (Tripoli - Sparta - Gytheio - Areopoli) is a south to north highway linking Tripoli with the GR-7/E55 along with GR-33 and GR-74 at the Tripoli Bypass, Sparta and Areopoli in the Mani Peninsula. The highway begins in Areopoli (Mani's provincial capital) and intersecting with the Kalamata - Areopoli and down to the southern end of the Mani peninsula, the highway later runs through the forested-grassy southern part of the Taygetus ranges and runs into the eastern half of Mani. The highway passes through Gytheio and next to the Laconian Gulf. The highway passes northward into the Eurotas Valley and junctioning with GR-86 (Gytheio - Molaoi) which runs up to Cape Malea, itruns near Thespies, Xirokampi and into Sparta, the capital of Laconia. The highway intersects with GR-82 (Pylos - Kalamata - Sparta) and nearly 800 m and to Ton 118 Street and straight up to Tripoli. The highway passes through Sellasia and into the mountains with few curvy roads and entering into Arcadia. The highway passes into the plain which includes Tripoli. The highway junctions with a road to Tegea and the interchange with the superhighway and the Tripoli By-pass. The highway ends in the old eastbound bypass of Tripoli, 1 km near the centre. The highway runs entirely in the Peloponnese and into two prefectures, Laconia and Arcadia.

History

The highway in the eastern part became paved in the mid-20th century. It was paved from Tripoli to Sparta and then Gytheio and then Areopoli. The only bypass is the Tripoli By-pass.
